An ideal amount of poker players for Texas Hold'em would be six people. Less means the game is left shorthannded. To start the game one card is dealt to each poker player and the highest card will be dealer.
In some poker games the dealer will have a white chip known as the button. After each hand the dealer rotates to the left, ensuring that everyone gets to play as the dealer and other positions.
Big Blind and Small Blind
Prior to the flop a forced bet is made, the bets are laid by the big blind and the small or little blind. The little blind always sits left of the dealer and the big blind sits left of the small blind. The size of the bets is pre-agreed and the small blind is always half of the big blind. E.g. Small Blind = 20 Piece Poker Chip / BigBlind=A 40 Piece Poker Chip
Poker Dealer
The dealer deals to each poker player one playing card at a time, beginning with the player on their left. The cards are dealt and then each player looks at his/her cards. They then have to decide if they want to cal. They can check, match or raise the bet . The poker bet is based on the big blinds poker chips. If a player decides not to play then they can return their cards to the table. This is known as fold.
Flop
This is the first three community cards dealt on the table
Muck
This is when a losing hand is not shown to the rest of the table. Usually done so that other poker players are unable to establish whether the poker player was bluffing or not
Nuts:
This is the best possible hand at any time during the poker game
Pocket Cards
These are the two poker cards dealt face down to each player
Pot
This is the pile of poker chips that accumulate for each round of poker
Raise
This is when a player increases the size of the bet. Other poker players have to match this bet if they wish to continue
River Hand
This is the final card dealt in a game of poker
Showdown
After the last card is dealt in a game of poker and the last bet is made each remaining player turns their poker cards face up
Split Pot
Two or more hands of equal value at the end of a game of poker means the pot and all the cash/poker chips are split equally
Turn
This is when players through in their cards. Once this is done they forego any claim to the pot
